Utsava – 2010

This music album attempts to represent the celebration of Utsava (Festival) from beginning to end.
The energy of a festival is established with the unique music of nadaswara, accompanied by thavil. The first half of the album has detailed improvisation of Kaapi raga from Carnatic and Peelu raga from Hindustani system.
The second half of the album explores the various stages of the celebration with each melody and solo representing a different moment in time. Before the festival ends and the music fades out, it climaxes with a brief and lively percussion ensemble. While the music is stylistically Indian, it attempts to capture the joy and jubilance of a universal celebration.
